Yellow toenails are a common symptom of a fungal infection in the nails, known as onychomycosis. This condition can cause the toenails to become discolored, thickened, and brittle. Yellow toenails can also be caused by other factors such as psoriasis, diabetes, or wearing tight-fitting shoes. It is important to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. **

Yellow toenails can be caused by a variety of factors, including fungal infections, such as athlete's foot or toenail fungus. Other potential causes include psoriasis, diabetes, or wearing tight or ill-fitting shoes that cause pressure on the toenails. Additionally, smoking and certain medical conditions can also contribute to yellowing of the toenails. It's important to consult a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment. **

Broken toenails are toenails that have cracked, split, or completely come off due to trauma or injury. This can happen from stubbing the toe, dropping something heavy on the toe, or from repetitive pressure on the toenail. Broken toenails can be painful and may lead to bleeding or infection if not properly treated. It's important to keep the area clean and seek medical attention if necessary. **

Toenails can be permanently removed through a surgical procedure called a partial or total nail avulsion. This procedure is typically done to treat chronic ingrown toenails or fungal infections that do not respond to other treatments. However, permanently removing a toenail is a serious decision that should be carefully considered, as it can have long-term implications for the foot's health and function. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional to discuss the risks and benefits of toenail removal before proceeding. **

Your father's toenails can be cut by a podiatrist, a nurse, a caregiver, or even by himself if he is able to do so safely. It is important to ensure that whoever is cutting his toenails is trained to do so properly to avoid any injuries or infections. Regular toenail care is essential for maintaining good foot health, especially for older adults or individuals with mobility issues. **
